Regulatory Engineer Consultant – 07000L06 (Number is Job Reference Number on Dell's Careers site)
Description
This job opening is for an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) design engineer to support Enterprise Server and Storage product development. Key competencies for this position include being detail-oriented, analytical, accurate, assertive, creative, innovative and able to deal with ambiguity.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
1. Create and Follow EMC design guidelines for printed circuit board layout and mechanical chassis design of Enterprise Class Server and Storage products
2. Review electrical and mechanical designs and feedback EMC countermeasure strategies to Product Development Teams
3. Create EMC test plans for engineering and compliance level testing
4. Meet routinely with Development Engineers and vendors to exchange information and negotiate EMC solutions
5. Design and implement solutions to a broad range of EMC problems
6. Participate in overall project planning on a frequent basis
7. May be responsible for multiple projects
8. Review various regulatory agency test reports and agency submittal packages
9. Deliver presentations to engineering and other management
10. Manage OEM and ODM suppliers to deliver results according to plan
11. May involve occasional overseas travel to consult with vendors
Qualifications
- Prefer MSEE, BSEE or BS in Physics
- Prefer a minimum of 3 years of related work experience in Electronics Design and/or EMC Engineering
- Requires knowledge of electromagnetic field theory and practical applications to supress and/or contain electromagnetic emissions from digital equipment
- Requires knowledge of analog and High Frequency (HF) digital circuit theory
- Thorough ability to understand schematic diagrams and use PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro
- Thorough ability to review IC and component specifications and technical data sheets
- Experience operating various test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzer, Digital Oscilloscope, Network Analyzer, etc.
- Thorough ability with MS Office applications such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
