An environmental testing facility may simulate altitudes from ranges such as Death Valley at -14.1 meters (-282 feet), to outer space at 24,300 meters (80,000 feet).

These are performed in altitude environmental testing chambers which are connected to a group of vacuum pumps, that can all be applied to any one chamber. In addition to the standard altitude changes, rapid changes may be also be achieved.
