CS07 was deleted from MIL-STD-461 between versions C and D. Here's why:
CS07 and CS08 were both deleted, CS03/04/05 were retained, but note that the
detail was removed. Part of the diminution in receiver-related requirements
reflects a decrease in procurement of traditional superheterodyne receivers
and an increase in newer technologies such as frequency hoppers, spread
spectrum and ultra-wideband radios, for which one set of detailed
requirements such as CS03/04/05/07/08 can't be levied.
Also there has been a general decrease in emphasis on broadband, impulsive
noise sources. Part of that represents a decrease in impulsive noise
sources over time, and part of it represents a frustration that the
MIL-STD-461 user base didn't understand broadband/narrowband issues, hence
the complete removal of all broadband requirements from MIL-STD-461D. |
