|
ifm efector's Octavis vibration monitor represents a new approach for monitoring bearing failures and shaft unbalance.

Innovative hardware
The efector Octavis monitor has an integrated accelerometer, signal processor and diagnostic electronics in a compact 40 x 40 mm package. This allows the monitor to gather, process and interpret data without requiring human interaction.
Continuous monitoring solution
Octavis is designed to be permanently mounted on a pump, spindle, compressor, or a fan to monitor failure conditions of bearings or shafts. Continuous monitoring eliminates the need for taking time-based readings and is much more reliable and cost-effective than intermittent solutions.
Octavis can monitor up to 5 different objects on a motor, fan, spindle, pump or compressor. An object is defined as a bearing or a shaft.
New price point benchmark
The installed cost per point for Octavis is less than $850. It is now possible to monitor hundreds of critical machines in a plant and develop a predictive maintenance program without a large upfront investment.
Integrated expertise
Octavis has the processing power to analyze a vibration signature and predict failures in advance by sending an alarm output signal to a PLC or relay.

Condition output
Once the Octavis monitor has been mounted and parameterized, the condition of the bearings and shaft are indicated through a ?traffic light? bar graph display. |
Installation and use: Simple 3-step process

Input Parameters
Parameters are loaded in the monitor with the Octavis software. The process is easy and includes a step-by-step guide. The PC or laptop is connected to Octavis with the RS232 setup cable.
Install Sensor
efector Octavis is designed to be permanently mounted on a pump, motor, spindle, or fan. The monitor has to be mounted in a radial direction to the axis of the shaft rotation. The vibration transmission rate to Octavis can be checked with an impulse tester.
Teach Baseline
After mounting the monitor, press the Teach button. Octavis will learn the reference baseline for normal operating conditions. The early warning alarm (yellow) and critical alarm (red) will trigger if there is a large change from the baseline. |
