Electronic Magnetic Compatibility Design engineer Description
Purpose:
1. Provide cost effective solutions for EMC system issues. Test units for precompliance and remediate any non compliance.
2. Advise Engineering during the specification and design process for new products. And perform design reviews before prototyping.
3. Work with other departments to ensure compliance with safety standards, European Directives and country specific laws.
4. Establish and maintain contact to international test houses and standardization organizations including knowledge of latest standards.
5. Stay current with latest tools for signal integrity and other design tools to help ensure compliance.
6. Stay current with Medical particular standards for monitoring parameters and test methods to prove compliance.
Responsibilitites:
1. Perform pre-compliance testing and remediate product issues.
2. Review ECOs for safety and continued compliance to standards.
3. Provide technical support and guidance to engineers in reviewing requirements specifications, hazards analysis and other design documents for safety and compliance to standards.
4. Monitor and influence national and international standards development that impacts patient monitoring.
5. Stay current with latest design tools for compliance and work with engineering group to introduce and provide training on new methods.
6. Coordinate final compliance testing with verification group.
7. Lead reliability analysis of products with emphasis on ALT testing.
8. Performs other duties as required.
Education:
- BSEE or equivalent.
- Strong Electrical Engineering background with a thorough understanding of power electronics in regards to leakage currents, high voltage isolation and breakdown, safety design rules, power correction factor, and thermal dissipation.
- Also a good understanding of RF including areas such as antenna radiation patterns, body absorption, Cross channel interference, spread spectrum techniques, etc.
Experience:
- A detailed knowledge of Safety-Regulatory Standards as they apply to Medical Electronic Products.
- Position requires working knowledge to use all types of test equipment and a PC.
- The person shall have 5+ years of experience and a strong technical background of working in a development environment.
- Experience working on own initiative.
- Track record of solving difficult EMC issues.
