Here's a description of this course offered by the Vibration Institute Course:
The objective of all of the Vibration Institute courses is to prepare you to be a better analyst. Institute courses will enable you to gain understanding of vibration principles and techniques and add to your practical knowledge of machines. With these tools you will be better able to think through vibration problems.
Vibration Institute courses are designed to provide you with theory, techniques, and procedures as well as practical case histories that illustrate ways to analyze various types of equipment. In-class demonstrations and workshops will help you learn the methods used to solve vibration problems.
Advanced Machinery Vibration Analysis is aimed at experienced analysts with more than five years of experience. Such analysts have mastered the single-channel FFT analyzer or data collector and desire to learn the additional analytical techniques possible with dual-channel FFT analysis and computer analysis. This course will help you prepare for the Category IV Vibration Analyst Examination.
TOPICS
basic vibration theory
signal processing and dual-channel FFT analysis
three step class format: Theory, techniques (description/demonstration), case histories.
setup and use of dual-channel FFT analyzers
advanced vibration signal analysis
limitations of FFT analysis in monitoring and analysis
using time-domain analysis to clarify the spectrum
synchronous time averaging with applications to analysis and balancing
sum and difference frequency analysis
determination of natural frequencies, mode shapes, and damping
operating deflection shape and modal analysis
calculation of vibrations and natural frequencies for simple models
vibration control techniques
use of coherence in dual-channel analysis
demonstrations of all techniques
partial preparation for Category IV Vibration Analyst Examination
