UK's York EMC Testing Services Limited engineers High-Frequency Comb Generator Emitters. This is a device for evaluating the shielding effectiveness of small enclosures. In recent years the advance in technology, particularly in the computer micro-processors, has resulted in the generation of very high frequencies within enclosures. The CGE01 (image below) has been developed in response to the needs of such industries which need to measure the shielding effectiveness of enclosures.
The CGE01 is a broadband comb generator emitter and differs from the continuous output of the Comparison Noise Emitter family because of the application. It has an output spectrum from 100MHz to 12GHz in step sizes of 80MHz or 100MHz.
The unit is battery powered so that it can be operated as an independent source without the effect of cables, which would modify the fields generated. An LED indicates when the battery power is low.
The CGE is housed in a plated metal cylindrical enclosure, thus ensuring uniformity of the field and can be orientated to give vertical or horizontal polarization.
