There are many reasons why your organization's products need to be EMC compliant:

For Increased Reliability and Performance:
Self-imposed reliability standards for certain products.

For instance: if you only plan to export your product in the U.S., unlike in Europe, one isn't required to pass immunity standards. But, a company might wish to establish their own immunity standards to ensure customer satisfaction by reducing field failures.
