Our client, located in the Greater Raleigh area, is currently in need of an Electronic Development Technician to assist the ISO 9000 registered laboratory in the areas of product development including building test fixtures, prototyping, validation and qualification testing, root cause failure analysis, circuit board and product repair, and laboratory maintenance.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Perform basic analysis of prototype circuits and devices to determine their performance characteristics.
•Conduct Performance, environmental and, EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) testing.
•Troubleshoot circuits to determine root cause of failure.
•Provide accurate data and documentation.
•Possess a basic knowledge of NFPA/OSHA electrical safety.
Technical Skill Requirements:
•Ability to solder and de-solder surface mount electronic components.
•Sound knowledge of analog and digital electronics. Ability to troubleshoot to the component level.
•Knowledge and experience with laboratory equipment such as digital storage oscilloscopes; power and spectrum analyzers; voltage, temperature, current, and impedance measuring equipment. Ability to use the advance function provided on test equipment (math, fourier, harmonics, integration, digital filtering, etc.)
•Knowledge and understanding of EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) test methods as applicable to industrial controls (IEC 61000-4 series testing).
•Ability to interpret and recognize validity of test data and write basic test reports with pictures and graphs.
•Be able to calculate the impedance, resistance, reactance, and power factor in circuits.
•Ability to design and construct test fixtures.
•Ability to program simple PLC devices and implement automated test programs for data acquisition, etc.
•Basic understanding of the IEC and UL standards, and test methods as applied to industrial controls.
Education and Experience:
•A.A.S, BSEET, BSEE degree or equivalent.
•2-5 years experience working with analog and digital electronic circuits and/or products.
•1-2 years conducting EMC testing is HIGHLY desirable.
This is a 9-month+ contract starting immediately. |
