A frequent situation with cables, as well as pin-out designs in ASICs or other LSI devices is lack of adequate signal return wires (or pins) .
Unless the return-path impedance is zero, a bit of current will often return on a stray path, creating large loop currents.
Solutions:
- Route power and signals in separate cables
- Use shielded cables
- A dd more ground return pins to ASIC/FPGA definitions
- (50/50% is ideal)
